A Lament Poem Written by Clare Chapman 

Father,
​
Why would You take Yourself away from me? 
I am confused! I can’t trust my mind!
Heal me Lord and redeem me from the pit!
I cling to verses that You will never leave me nor forsake me.
I trusted in You as a young child.
People make fun of me.
I am discredited and judged.
Lord, redeem me from the pit and heal my mind.
I thought You left me and I tried my best to live my life,
But it was meaningless and full of sin and emptiness.
But God. But God!
​You have forgiven me and no longer hold my sins against me.
You adore me and want to lead me to Your heart! 
Your ways are good and I long to do what is right.
My enemies are few now.
Lord, thank You for not forgetting me.
I am amazed at Your love for me and Your willingness to save me.
Lord, help me to acknowledge Your goodness and faithfulness.
I am no longer confused.
I have been redeemed and put on sure footing.
I cannot be moved by my emotions or by the judgment of others because I know deep down You love me, adore me, and have a plan for me to follow until I am with You forever.
These voices against You and me will not always be there.
The time is coming when everyone will know You are the Faithful One.
Every knee will bow.
Even the knees of those who deny You.
God, thank You for saving me and lifting me out of the pit!
It was awful, but now I am full of joy and awe of You.
